Privacy
Burger One is a food business in Rolleston, New Zealand. We handle personal information under the Privacy Act 2020.
What we collect
- Your name, phone number and email address, when you join the list.
- Your delivery address, when you place an order.
- Your member number and what you ordered.
- Whatever you type into the contact form, so we can answer you.
We collect this directly from you. We don't buy lists and we don't track you across other websites.
Why we collect it
To issue your number, to make and deliver your order, and to contact you about that order. Nothing else. We will not send you marketing unless you ask us to.
Who else sees it
Your payment goes directly to your bank — we never see or store your card or bank login details. If you order delivery, the courier gets your name, address and phone number so they can find you. We don't sell your information to anyone, ever.
How long we keep it
Only as long as we need it. Order and payment records are held for seven years because the Inland Revenue Department requires it of every New Zealand business. Everything else — your contact details and member number — we delete on request, or when the 1000-burger run ends and we close.
Where it's stored
Your member number is also saved in your own browser so you don't have to type it every time. Clearing your browser data removes it from your device. That copy is yours, not ours.
Your data, your call
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you (principle 6), and to ask us to correct it if it's wrong (principle 7). We must respond within 20 working days. It costs you nothing.
The Act doesn't give a general right to erasure the way European law does — but we'll delete on request anyway. Ask us and we'll remove your contact details and member number. The only thing we can't erase is the order and payment record IRD requires us to keep for seven years.
How to ask
Use the contact form. Pick send me a copy, correct my data or delete my data, and give us the number you were issued. That's all we need.
You can also clear your details from this device right now using the button in the footer of any page.
If we get it wrong
Tell us first, through the contact form. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

The run
We are making 1000 burgers in total. When the count reaches zero, Burger One stops trading. The counter on the home page reflects burgers sold. We're open Thursday to Sunday from 6pm, and we close each night when that day's stock is gone.
Your number
Your number is personal to you and isn't transferable. We may decline an order if a number is being shared or used to buy stock for resale.
Orders and payment
Prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST. Payment is taken when you order. An order is confirmed once payment clears — a placed order is not a guarantee of stock until then.
Changes and refunds
Tell us before we start cooking and we'll cancel and refund in full. Once it's on the grill we can't. If something's wrong with your order, contact us the same day and we'll put it right — this doesn't affect your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
Allergens
Our kitchen handles gluten, dairy, egg, soy and sesame. We can't guarantee any item is free of a given allergen. If you have a serious allergy, please ask before ordering.
Governing law
These terms are governed by New Zealand law.
